Born on 20th March 1947 in Kalimpong. His parents are Mr. M. Sing Sada and Mrs. Maria Tamang. He had his schooling at Kumuduni Homes, Kalimpong and joined the Diocesan Seminary which then was just at its nascent stage housed in the attic of Bishop’s House. After completing his studies he was ordained a priest on 13th April 1976 at St. Teresa’s Church, Kalimpong along with Fr. Albert Lobo.
He has had a variety of priestly ministry; given his talent and knack in pastoral field he has given his best in all. From May 1976 he was at Bishop’s House, Darjeeling preparing for the Communication – Media Pastoral Center also serving as the Assistant Pastor at the Cathedral, In June 1978 he was transferred to St. John’s Berchmans, Kurseong as the Parish Priest, In 1982 he came back to the upcoming Pastoral Center Team, residing at Bishop’s House prepared for his MA.. 1986 saw him as the Parish Priest of St. Patrick’s, Pringtam – Kankebong, after his term there he was transferred St. Joseph’s Parish, Gitdabling. In 1999 he was appointed as the director of Catechists, he also became the Director of Pushpika Pastoral center, Kalimpong. Of late he is the Parish Priest of St. Joseph’s Quasi Parish, Nagsay.
Fr. Andrew Sada in endowed with loads of Talents. He could be dubbed as the ‘Beethoven’ of the Diocese for the melodious compositions for the Children Mass, umpteen nember of hymns and the Jewel of his compositions are undoubtedly The Passion and the Exultut , without which perhaps hardly any music trendy parishioner feels that the Paschal Tridum is over. He is a man with instant positive wit for any matter on earth. A man who sees the flip side of life optimistically Apart from being a great lyricist he is a great vocalist too, he has a depth in his voice deep enough to pierce the heart of his audience. With an MA (Prahabakar) in Classical Music, he can weave words into enchanting melodies. He has been instrumental in many liturgical works like, compiling Hymn Books, translation works et.al. in the diocese.
As we thank God for the gift of this versatile genius we pray for his good health. He is suffering from diabetes, but as he says Life goes on….come what may, we join him in his optimism and wish him more years of ministry ahead.
