Meaning

Crest
It expresses the history, composition and the guiding of the Diocese of Darjeeling.


SNOW-CAPPED KANCHENJUNGA RANGE AGAINST A BLUE SKY:
God the Father, Creator of the Universe, has given Darjeeling the geographic uniqueness in its ever white purity challenging all to the highest of ideals of sincerity and peace.

RED: Colour of sacrifice and zeal. It symbolises the sacrificial love of Jesus Christ.

THE DOVE: Symbol of the Holy Spirit who is the source of holiness and giver of life.

GREEN: Symbol of Hope and life. It also depicts the Tea gardens and vegetation in the Hills of Darjeeling-Sikkim-Bhutan

'CHI' & 'RHO' : (Greek Letters) are symbols of Christ and Mary. Christ reigning over us all and whose kingdom we are committed to establish, in union with Mary. This ensures continuation of the mission of Christ, for which, the late Bishop Eric Benjamin had spent himself.

THE CROWN AND SILKEN SCARF:
They symbolise LOVE and RESPECT for the Most Holy Trinity, which is a Unity of three Persons.

THE MOTTO IN LATIN: 'FIAT IN FIDE' :
Means, " YES IN FAITH" - a summary of the entire Episcopal Ministry to do Gods will at all times in faith.
