Don Bosco School, Malbasey
Don Bosco Malbasey
Situated in the Eastern Himalayas, in the shadow of the towering Mount Kanchenjunga, the tiny state of Sikkim measures approximately 100 kms from north to south, and 60 kms from east to west. Don Bosco School, Malbasey, inaugurated in 1989 is the first and the only Salesian foundation in Sikkim. It is situated in West Sikkim on a plot of land donated by the Government of Sikkim through the diocese of Darjeeling. In the same year the Sisters of St. Joseph of Cluny also came to Malbasey to help the Salesians in running the School and the boarding for the girls. Presently the School is a full-fledged Co-educational School from K.G. to class 10. The School is affiliated to the Delhi Board ICSE. In March 2001 the first batch of 16 students appeared for ICSE with cent percent success. The community also looks after the Parish and the sub-stations. In January 2005 the Cluny Sisters wound up their contract for collaboration and the Missionaries Sisters of Mary Help of Christians (MSMMHC) took over the running of the Girls' boarding. The boarding houses 101 boys and girls.
