Sisters of St. Joseph are of Cluny (SJC) Estd in Darjeeling. 1926

The Cluny Sisters came to Kalimpong in 1926.  "Welcome to this new mission!  A grand work awaits you and I am very sure you will strive to make this Mission a model one".  Msgr. Jules Douinel welcomed our Sisters to St. Joseph's Convent Kalimpong with these words.
Our Sisters lived up to the expectations.  Ministries grew and expanded. They built up a network of Primary Schools and Dispensaries which cater for the basic educational and health care needs of the local people .After Primary School level Cluny Sisters set up Secondary Schools in Kalimpong, Darjeeling and Sikkim, which are fed with students from the village centres. St. Joseph's Convent served as the Provincial House from 1968 to 2005and played a vital role in the growth of the province in the hills. The Province of North India and Nepal consists of 33 convents located in West Bengal, Sikkim, Jharkhand, Delhi and Assam and three Communities in Nepal.
